INTRODUCTION
Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hotel Management (NATHM) was established in 1972 by Government of Nepal as Hotel Management and Tourism Training Centre (HMTTC) with support of UNDP and ILO, with the prime objective of producing skilled workforce for the then nascent tourism and hospitality industry of Nepal. After introducing Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) program for the first time in Nepal in 1999, erstwhile HMTTC was renamed as NATHM. The academy then launched Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM) program in 2003 and then realizing the demand of higher-level manpower in growing tourism and hospitality industry, the academy launched Master of Hospitality Management in 2011.

All the academic programs at NATHM are affiliated to Tribhuvan University. Apart from the academic programs of undergraduate and graduate level, NATHM provides myriads of short-term trainings in tourism and hospitality including Tourist Guide, Trekking Guide, River Guide, Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Barista etc.

Along with the in-house trainings, NATHM reaches to parts and parcels of Nepal through its widely sought mobile outreach trainings on Homestay Management, Local Guide, Small Hotel and lodge Management etc.

Recognizing the growing demand of these easily employable courses of NATHM, the academy has already decided to open the branches in all seven provinces of Nepal beginning from 2020. Three branches of NATHM has begun their operation from Birtamod of province number one, Bardibas of province number two and Nepalgunj of Lumbini Province. The expansion of NATHM will undoubtedly enhance its scope and large section of Nepalese society will benefit from the courses offered by this institution.

To be established as a preferred destination for tourism and hospitality education in the SAARC region.

MISSION
NATHM as the pioneer national institution dedicated to human resource development for tourism and hospitality sector in Nepal, will facilitate and produce quality human resources by improving and expanding educational, training and research opportunities. It will thus be a 'Center of Excellence' for national and international students.

PHYSICAL FACILITIES

Expanded in an area of 1.5 hectares (29 Ropanies), NATHM is well equipped with the world class facilities needed for tourism and hospitality related training and academic programs.

TRAINING KITCHENS
There are Seven training kitchens including two training bakeries. The individual Training Kitchens can comfortably accommodate 40 students/trainees at a time. The bulk kitchen accommodates 20 students at a time while each training bakeries can provide enough space for 20 students/trainees. While in full fledge operation, approximately 700 meals are prepared daily in NATHM training Kitchens.

TRAINING RESTAURANTS & BAR
There are two training restaurants with the seating capacity of 40 guests each at a time. Newly constructed beverage demonstration lab will provide first hand experience to the students/trainees with all world class facilities for beverage demonstration. The Training Bar at NATHM is well equipped for the practical exposure of the students/trainees and serve the chosen hard and soft drinks to the guests.

MODEL HOTEL
A model hotel with 20 rooms (including single, double, twins and suite rooms) along with a lobby adds for the enhancement of front office and accommodation related skills of the trainees and students.

TRAVEL & TOURISM DEMOSTRATION LAB
A Travel & Tourism Demonstration lab has been added to the physical infrastructure of NATHM in 2020. This lab consists of the set-up of the Travel & Trekking Agency along with the display of Trekking & Mountaineering Gears. The students/trainees will be able to get the first-hand experience of the travel management from this lab.

NATHM INCUBATION CENTRE
An incubation Centre has also been initiated in 2020 at NATHM. NATHM incubation Centre aims at the grooming of different ideas of the faculty members/students/ trainees and contribute to the Nepalese Tourism & Hospitality Industry with innovative ideas and business opportunities.
 
NATHM RESEARCH UNIT
Research Unit at NATHM aims at carryout myriads of researches related to Tourism & Hospitality and provide input for the government policies and for the industry through the findings. NATHM is also actively working to establish Tourism and Hospitality related data bank.

NATHM CLINIC
The facility of NATHM clinic along with an automatic sanitary pad vending machine and weight and height measurement scale has been recently added. A health assistant is deployed to support students, trainees or staffs in case of health emergency with first aid and basic treatment.

NATHM SPORTS COMPLEX
A sports complex comprising of basketball court, volleyball court, Badminton Court along with the indoor Table Tennis boards fulfill the sporting needs of the students and trainees.

LIBRARY
NATHM has a well-equipped library with more than 5000 books and different online resources at the disposal of all full-time students.

MULTIPURPOSE HALL
An air-conditioned multipurpose hall with in-built Audio-Visual System, Lighting arrangements and the motorized stage curtain system can easily accommodate an audience of 200 numbers.

SEMINAR & MEETING HALLS
Two air-conditioned halls namely, Pulchowki Hall & Nagarjun Hall, each having enough space for 80 participants are designated as Seminar & Meeting Halls.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LAB
A well-equipped and internet connected IT Lab sufficient for 42 students at a time is another important infrastructure for the students. The lab is installed with the ticketing software (GDS) for the travel and tourism students, accommodation software for the students of hotel management.

AIR-CONDITIONED CLASSROOMS WITH MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM
The state of art theory classrooms well equipped with central air condition, audio visual system and internet is another important infrastructure for the students.
Along with all the above-mentioned infrastructures, Separate Lockers for Girls and Boys, Food Science Lab, Seminar Halls, Facility of Bank ATM, Sufficient Parking Space, Beautiful Gardens, Inhouse Nursery, Wi-Fi zone meet the criteria of international standard of the campus environment.
The experienced and well-trained faculty members, well-developed curricula, high scope of employability and training labs of international standards has contributed NATHM to stand out as a premier institution for tourism and hospitality education.
